CBS Masters Game 3: Molson/Duke 4 CBS 1

June 27, 2005
Nugent Field CBS
Weather Conditions: Sunny & 17c

Game 3 featured a similar slow start as in Game 2 and it was 2-0 for Duke before we knew it, with both goals being scored in the first 20 minutes or so. Roger Power, the pride of Torbay, brought us back to within one with a nice marker at the 41 minute mark with a nice setup from Jeff (neff) Dwyer.

Duke added a third midway through the second half on a penalty kick and a fourth later on in the half. Neff Dwyer had one called back due to an errant off side call with 15 minutes left. He chested down a beautiful volley from Craig Baker just inside the 18 yard box and buried it into the corner of thenet, only to be denied by the referee's whistle.

The only consolation from this match was that it was played in ideal conditions on Nugent Field in Kelligrews on a playing surface that actually consisted of grass. We also welcomed two new players last night, Terry Fleming and Ernie Bolt, so we are now pretty well maxed out for players right now, with the possibility of one more addition in Frank Dwyer when hereturns from vacation next week.

Players who played:
Craig Baker, Jeff Haines, Gerard Kenny, Clyde Thornhill, Geoff Lowe,
Rick Squires, Roger Power, Ken Porter, Todd Ryan, Jeff Dwyer, Tony Baker,

Keith Hynes, Terry Fleming and Ernie Bolt.
Yellow cards: None

On the out of town scoreboard: Holy Cross 6 Labatt Star 1; Feildians 3 Mount Pearl 1

Next Match is scheduled for next Wednesday, July 6 vs. Mount Pearl at Wishingwell Field, under the lights at 8:30 pm.
