CBS Battles Feildians in Season Opener

June 15, 2005 at Feildian Grounds
Weather: 6c with a light drizzle

Feildians 3 CBS 0

For those that couldn't make it ...here's the Readers Digest version.

We started with 11 players. Captain Cal came to coach but seeing that there was no bench to manage he pull on his shorts & made it 12. Smokey & Keith Hynes quickly showed up & we had 3 on the bench. It was even steven for the 1st 30 minutes or so. We had a good chance when Todd Ryan was sent in all alone but someone (was it the goalie??) nudged it just wide of the goal.

Feildians went up 1-0 fairly late in the 1st half. I didn't see the goal as I was filling in the game sheet, although Jeff Haines (playing full back admitted blame for that one).

So it was 1-0 at the half & then Geoff Lowe showed up so we had 4 on the bench.

Their second goal came about 10 minutes into the second half on a corner kick. This big lumberjack type got up in the air & headed it in off the crossbar.

Number 3 came another 10 minutes later.

Keith was steady as usual in the net.

We received 2 yellow cards, yours truly when my orangatang type behaviour set in after their 3rd goal and Geoff Dwyer for lipping off to the ref.

Craig Baker played the 1st half & seemed to do OK. The beer was nice & cold after the game ....so their were some positives that came out of this match. On a negative note the back window of Smokey's truck cap was smashed by an errant Feildians shot halfway through the first half.

So....next match is Monday Night at 8:30 at Wishingwell Field versus Star of the Sea.

Please advise if you can or cannot make this fixture.

Good run for the opener - we need to have bodies on the bench for substitutions
